James I. Gilbert, IV, Esq.

Jim Gilbert is the owner of The Gilbert Law Firm, PC located at Smith Mountain Lake.  Jim has been in private practice since 1995.  He is a graduate of T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond, and received his undergraduate degree from Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia.

The Gilbert Law Firm, PC employs approximately a dozen legal professionals who mainly dedicate their time to matters involving real estate.  Jim's practice is heavily concentrated in areas involving residential and commercial real estate transactions, real estate development and civil litigation involving real estate disputes.  He has represented many of the major real estate brokerages at the lake, mortgage brokers and real estate developers.  Jim's experience also includes the formation and management of several title insurance agencies. In fact, Jim was instrumental in the formation of one of the largest producing title agencies located in Virginia for Fidelity National Title.

Jim is a past board member of the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce and the Rocky Mount Community Partnership for Revitalization.  He is a past officer of the Franklin County Bar Association.  The Gilbert Law Firm, PC is a major sponsor of the Smith Mountain Lake Charity Home Tour.  Jim's interests include team roping, playing golf and spending time with his son.
